ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Noel Elementary in Odessa spent about 30 minutes under shelter in place on Thursday afternoon.
ECISD administrators said the shelter in place was issued after the warning lights on the campus' gas detection meters went off.
Administrators said that the school is equipped with sensors in several locations because of the pump jack located on the southeast corner of the campus.
ECISD maintenance crews, along with the company that owns the pump jack, arrived at the school to take air quality readings. Those readings came back normal.
All students and teachers are safe and the school resumed their class day following the shelter in place.
