Family of murdered Big Spring man searching for justice

BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - A Big Spring family is asking for help, months after their loved one was murdered. They say they haven't gotten much information from police about the case.

The family of Israel Miramontes, 32, is searching for answers almost three months after he was shot and left for dead outside of his mother's house on the 600 block of North Scurry St. in Big Spring.

"He didn't deserve this. I don't think anyone would deserve anything like this. It's hard. You don't know until you have to go through it," said Cristal Lopez, Miramontes' little sister.

Miramontes was a son, nephew, a brother and a father to two young children, both under the age of three years old. In the few months since his death, the family says they haven't gotten many updates from police.

"Reaching out to them and you know. We depend on them to find justice for us and them not reaching out to us and letting us know what's going on, like anything, any leads," said Lopez.

The family said many of their calls to the police department have gone unanswered. They have even got family from out of town calling for updates. Their biggest fear is the case will turn cold and they won't get justice for Israel.

"Nobody is telling the cops anything. We need whoever knows anything to reach out to them and let them know. We want justice. It's hard to go without knowing who did it or why," said Lopez.

We reached out to the Big Spring Police Department, we are still waiting to hear back.

If you have any information on Miramontes' death, call Crime Stoppers at (432) 263-TIPS. You will remain anonymous.
