BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - Tuesday afternoon Big Spring Police Department Narcotics Officers saw a tan Cadillac Escalade on the 3600 block of W. Hwy 80.
The Escalade was driven by Michael Jackman, 30. Jackman was wanted out of Taylor County for methamphetamine possession and known to be armed and dangerous.
When officers tried to stop Jackman he continued westbound on W. Hwy 80 and turned Eastbound onto I-20.
The report said Jackman attempted to elude the officers on IH-20, took the 176 exit to State Hwy 176 (Andrews Hwy) where he then drove westbound to County Rd 21.
The officers continued to follow Jackman at a distance. On County Rd 21 Jackman continued northbound to Leatherwood Rd. turning eastbound, at that time Howard County Deputies assisted with the pursuit with Mr. Jackman.
The pursuit turned into a high speed chase on Hwy 87, police said there Jackman disregarded a stop sign and was struck by a tractor trailer travelling southbound. Police said Jackman exited the vehicle and fled on foot for a short distance until he collapsed.
First-aid was conducted on Jackman, he was then flown to Odessa Medical for treatment.
Department of Public Safety responded to the scene and conducted the accident investigation.
Jackman is currently hospitalized and will be charged with his felony warrant for methamphetamine possession revocation of probation and evading police in a vehicle upon his release.
There were no other injuries related to this incident.
