Arizona girl killed in accident near Colorado City, TX

COLORADO CITY, TX (KWES) - A Phoenix girl was killed in a weekend accident near Colorado City, Texas, on Saturday afternoon.

Texas DPS officials said the accident on Interstate 20, two miles east of Colorado City.

Officials said a 2006 Dodge Durango was traveling west on Interstate 20 when the left rear tire blew out.

According to the report, that caused the driver to lose control and the vehicle rolled to the right.

We're told a passenger in the vehicle was ejected onto the roadway and was hit by an 18-wheeler.

Jazmine Aiyana Martinez, 9, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Jazmine Martinez wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Three other people in the vehicle, Renee Martinez, 35, Tillie Hernandez, 54, and Joseph Martinez, 14, all of Phoenix, were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.

Joseph Martinez and Renee Martinez were taken to Mitchell County Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries while Tillie Hernandez was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious, life threatening injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn't injured.
