HOWARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) - One driver is dead following a chain reaction crash in Howard County on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at mile marker 192.
DPS Troopers said a pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane and struck an SUV head-on.
That collision then caused the SUV to be hit head-on by an 18-wheeler.
Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead.
The driver's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
We're told the driver of the SUV was taken to a Big Spring hospital in unknown condition while the 18-wheeler driver was said to be ok.
Traffic in the area is still being diverted but DPS Troopers said the Interstate is expected to be back open later tonight.
