ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars on charges after admitting to stabbing a dog multiple times.
Odessa police were called out to the 2700 block of Van St. on Thursday night in reference to a person stabbing a dog.
When officers arrived, they spoke with Doyle Burnett Jr., who had a knife in his hand in the yard next to a dog with cuts.
The owner of the dog told police that Burnett stabbed her dog multiple times.
Police said the dog, which was a red nose brown pitbull, had cuts and blood on its front left leg, right side of chest and on its face.
According to the report, Burnett admitted to stabbing the dog several times and said that when he got out of jail that he was going to kill the dog.
Burnett was later arrested on charges of cruelty to animals-torturing and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
