OPD: Woman assaulted boyfriend, threatened him with knife

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A woman was arrested on Sunday afternoon for allegedly punching her boyfriend repeatedly and then threatening him with a knife.

Officers were called out to the 1900 block of East 7th St. on a report of a domestic disturbance.

Authorities say they spoke to a 24-year-old man who had bodily injury on both of his hands. The man told officers that his girlfriend, Tawnie Gutierrez, 22, had punched him about 10 times after they got into an argument.

According to police, Gutierrez then began to throw items at her boyfriend before grabbing a kitchen knife and threatening him.

Police were called out to the residence twice but Gutierrez had fled before they arrived both times. She was later found after getting pulled over in the 700 block of McKinley Ave.

Gutierrez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence). She was also arrested for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
