Citizen's arrest made on man caught stealing from Odessa store

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Some citizens sprang into action after one man was caught stealing from an Odessa store on Thursday.

Odessa police were called out to Lowes Home Improvement in the 4100 block of East 42nd St. around 3 p.m.

When officers arrived, they saw a man, later identified as Rodjrick Williams, 34, being detained in the parking lot of the store.

An investigation revealed that Williams exited Lowes with approximately $298 worth of merchandise without making any attempt to pay for it.

According to the report, witnesses were able to hold down Williams until Odessa police arrived.

We're told that while the citizen's arrest was being made, Williams bit the left wrist of one of the witnesses.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said Williams later admitted to stealing the merchandise to police.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
