Man arrested, accused of pointing loaded gun at 6 people near Odessa park

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars on six charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police said he pointed a loaded gun at six people.

Odessa police said they were called out to the 3001 block of East University Ave, near YMCA Park, in reference to a subject with a gun. Police said dispatch reported that a man was threatening several other people with a shotgun.

When officers arrived, they found Marty Rex, 41, to be in possession of a loaded Mossberg 500A 12 gauge shotgun with the safety turned off.

Police said Rex was uncooperative at first but he was later detained.

An investigation revealed that Rex pointed the shotgun at a total of six people.

No injuries were reported during the call.

Rex was later charged and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
