Zachary Smith, 25, was killed after he crashed into a telephone pole on 600 block of East 91st Street on Saturday morning in Odessa.
Police say wires from the pole fell down and when Smith exited the vehicle, he stepped on them.
Smith graduated from Permian High School, where he played football and baseball.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Crossroads Fellowship Church in Odessa.
