ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Ector County Sheriff's Office is debuting some new equipment, all bought with money seized from drug dealers.

They bought five Chevy Tahoes and a crime scene unit van, all equipped for officers to use.

The vehicles totaled just under $290,000.

Sheriff Mark Donaldson said they are enhancing what they already have and the equipment should help them put more officers on the street.

"I'm thrilled that now there are some things we can do that haven't been able to do before with marked vehicles and now we can. Obviously having our first crime scene unit van fully equipped is a blessing," said Donaldson.

He said they have more money seized from drug dealers and will utilize it for different needs like the SWAT team.
