EUNICE, NM (KWES) - The New Mexico Department of Public Safety has released more information in the officer-involved shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say just before 5 p.m., Eunice police were called out to the 600 block of South Main Street on a report of domestic violence.
When an officer arrived he found Roberto Ocona, 41, armed with a knife. The officer then fired shots at Ocona, who was hit by the gunfire.
Ocona was taken to the hospital for treatment and is now listed in stable condition.
According to the the New Mexico DPS, no officers were injured in the incident and the circumstances leading up to the officer firing his weapon are currently under investigation.
