CRANE, TX (KWES) - A standoff in Crane is over with one man behind bars on assault charges.
It all started when Crane police responded to an assault call on Monday.
Police said the suspect, Richie Gutierrez, left before law enforcement arrived to the scene.
Authorities said Gutierrez was later found at his home on S. Vivian Street and he barricaded himself inside.
Police later made contact with Gutierrez and he said that he wasn't coming out.
We're told Gutierrez' father was inside the home but later made it out safely during the standoff.
Several hours later, Gutierrez surrendered to police and was taken into custody.
Gutierrez is charged with two counts of assault (family violence).
The family member sustained non-life threatening injuries, no additional injuries resulted from the stand-off.
Gutierrez has past criminal charges, including a charge for possession of marijuana from last year.
Officers with the Crane Police Department, Odessa Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety were involved in the standoff.
