NewsWest 9 Sports: Two A Day Preview

Gearing up for Game Time begins with a preview of some of the teams starting two a days on August 1st.

The Big Spring Steers are coming into this season with a new coach and a hole at quarterback after losing quarterback Garrett Wigington to graduation. Clint Finley is the coach in charge and Dylan Cantu is expected to take over at quarterback. The Steers were 2-7 last year.

The Greenwood Rangers have some key vets returning. QB Ben Brockman and running back Stace Bell should form a deadly combo. The Rangers are coming off a Bi-District appearance in 2015.

In Pecos, we are expecting big things from QB Bubba Hensen. this is a guy who threw for over 2,500 yards last season and had 28 td's through the air. He's also a deadly rusher and was picked by Dave Campbell's as the preseason offensive mvp for the district. The Eagles are coming off a bi-district appearance in 2015.

Moving to TAPPS, Antwan Alexander and his Trinity Chargers are coming off an appearance in the Tapps 6 man Division 1 state championship game. The Chargers lost a lot of seniors, including Vincent Baiano and Peter Rodenko, but they also have a lot of talent returning as well. Running back Logan Ramsey is a player to watch.

The Midland Christian Mustangs will look to improve on a regional semi-final appearance and a 5-7 record from a year ago. Keep an eye on running back Corey Wolfe who returns after missing the 2015 season.
