ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The Odessa Police Department has seen an influx in scam complaints involving Craigslist, Internal Revenue Service, and TXU Energy.
Several residents say they received a phone call from someone referencing a TXU account and threatening to shut the power off if the bill isn't paid in full.
Police say if you receive a phone call, email, or text from anyone claiming to work for the IRS or TXU, do not give out any personal information.
If you are skeptical, IRS can be contacted at 1-800-829-1040 or online at www.tigta.gov.
Residential customers can contact TXU at 1-800-242-9113. Business customers should call 1-888-399-5501.
