MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Looking for a way to cool off from the West Texas heat? Here's your chance this weekend with the first of its kind ice cream festival in downtown Midland.

The festival will begin Saturday, July 30 and run through Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 401 S. Marienfeld St. in the parking lot where Susie's South 40 factory is located.

You can purchase your ticket for the event online at http://www.doyourcity.us/festival/ for $7 or you can purchase your ticket at the gate for $10.

There will be several activities including an ice cream eating competition, inflatable water slides and performances on the Alpha Cheer and Dance Performance Stage.

“We’re so excited to have an Ice Cream Festival like this in downtown Midland,” says Downtown Development Coordinator Cristina Odenburg. “Having events like this will definitely help with the revitalization of the downtown area and will continue to bring more and more people to downtown Midland.”

If you're planning to attend, there will be free parking available up and down the street and in nearby empty lots.
