ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man is behind bars after allegedly shooting an AK-47 from a car while driving intoxicated.

Odessa police officers were called out to the 400 block of Snyder St. Sunday evening for a reported drive-by shooting.

Officers searched the area and found a truck matching the description given to dispatch in the 1100 block of S. Grant Ave.

The truck was pulled over and officers say they could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver was identified as Roman Camacho, 22.

Authorities say they found an AK-47, with a barrel that was still hot, in the possession of Camacho.

Witnesses confirmed to police that Camacho had shot the rifle through the truck window towards the house on Snyder St. and field sobriety tests revealed that Camacho was intoxicated.

Camacho was arrested and charged with deadly conduct discharging a firearm and driving while intoxicated.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
