MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Midland mayor Jerry Morales has officially announced that he will be running for re-election.
"It was in my heart and I definitely have a passion for being a mayor in my hometown. I want to continue the efforts that I've started," said Morales.
"We just talked recently about the northeast sector of Midland and annexation on the highway. Roads are the biggest demand today. We have got to come up with some funds for the need to repair and build more roads," said Morales.
In a release, Morales said he is especially proud to have presented and adopted the Tall City Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan that will help prepare Midland's future for the next 20 years.
"I understand where we've been, where we are today, and where we are going," said Morales.
Morales added he hasn't heard any other names brought up when it comes to the mayoral position this November but is welcoming any debates or challenges.
