MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland Police Department held their first "Pizza with a Cop" on Thursday.
It was an event where officers were able to connect with the community while eating pizza.
Police wanted to reassure the community they protect and that they care.
Officers met with folks outside the Washington Park Aquatic Center so the community could meet their local law enforcement.
"We want to send a positive message out there to the community. We're living in a world today where everything is getting a little crazy and we want the community to know we're not bad guys were good guys, just doing the job," said Officer Larry Woodruff with the Midland Police Department.
The department said they do similar events such as "Coffee With a Cop" or teaching classes to school districts.
They say it's all about creating a positive image to children and to let everyone else know what the police department is all about.
