LAMESA, TX (KWES) - Seven family members are displaced after a fire burned through their Lamesa home over the weekend.
Early Sunday morning, the blaze broke out on South 6th Street.
The fire completely destroyed one bedroom of the home and caused significant smoke damage throughout the rest of the property.
But Lamesa Fire Chief Larry Duyck is taking a close look at the fire saying the cause is still under investigation and even calling the fire suspicious.
A dog trained to detect chemical accelerants visited the scene and a state fire marshal out of Midland is assisting in the investigation.
With help from the Red Cross, the family is staying at a local motel until the home can be repaired.
