Stanton police arrest one after six-hour standoff

STANTON, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars after a six hour police standoff in Stanton on Sunday.

Stanton police were called out to the Convent RV Park in reference to a fight in progress.

An officer knocked on the RV occupied by Tommy Martinez, 53, who responded by allegedly threatening the officer and then shooting through the door.

About six hours later, officers threw in tear gas in to the RV, which lead to Martinez's surrender.

No officers were injured.

Martinez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and assault with bodily injury on a family member.
