ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

A man remains in the hospital in stable condition after a weekend shooting involving an Ector County Sheriff’s deputy.

George Alfaro is suspected of driving a stolen pickup truck, equipped with a GPS tracking device, and shooting at police officers.

Authorities were able to track the vehicle in Ector County.

An Ector County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop Alfaro in the area of the FM 1936 and Alturas, but the stop ended up leading to a pursuit.

Alfaro ran into a fence, hit two company cars then got out of the truck and ran with a pistol firing a shot at the deputy.

That's when the deputy shot back wounding Alfaro.

Alfaro remains in the hospital in stable condition. No deputies were injured in the chase.
