MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

The Red Cross has developed an app to help keep citizens up to date on wildfire danger.

The app is available through this link on Apple and Android devices.

Currently several West Texas counties, including Martin, Upton, Crane, Winkler, Ward and more are again under a burn ban.

The extremely hot weather causes the land to dry out, leading to increased fire danger.

Experts say to take extra caution when dealing with flammable materials.

The simple act of barbecuing or carelessly discarding a cigarette is enough to start a wildfire.

Wildfire season does not peak until late July or early August, if you want to help, the Red Cross is still looking for volunteers.
