MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The heat is on across West Texas today.

The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a heat advisory for several West Texas counties including Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Ector, Gaines, Loving, Midland, Reeves, Ward and Winkler County. In New Mexico, Eddy and Lea County are also under the advisory.

The NWS is advising persons that should be outside to lessen their outside activity, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and wear light colored clothing.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected.

The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
