Heat advisory continues today for Permian Basin

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The heat is on across the Permian Basin today. Temperatures are expected to range from 101 to 107 degrees across the area.

Due to the excessive heat, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the following counties: Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Ector, Gaines, Jeff Davis, Loving, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, Upton, Ward and Winkler County. Lea and Eddy County in New Mexico are also under the advisory.

If you must work outside today, some tips from the National Weather Service in Midland include:

  • to lessen outdoor activity
  • drink plenty of water
  • take frequent breaks and wear light clothing
  • reschedule outdoor strenuous activities to the early morning or evening.
