ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars after he tried to steal from an Odessa business.
Odessa Police were called out to the Music City Mall in reference to a theft.
When officers arrived, an employee with Knockout Wear reported they saw a man pick out an Oakley dri-fit hat and passed the registers without attempting to pay for it.
The man was later identified as Cody Rinehart, 28.
Police said an investigation revealed that Rinehart had four prior theft convictions.
On top of that, Rinehart also was found to be intoxicated and in possession of Gabapentin.
Rinehart wasn't able to provide a prescription for the pills so he was also charged with possession.
Rinehart is facing charges of theft of property with a least two prior convictions, possession of a dangerous drug and public intoxication.
Rinehart was later arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
