ANDREWS, TX (KWES) - A notorious highway intersection east of Andrews qualified for federal funding for an overpass.
The Texas Department of Transportation said bids to put in a $12 million overpass at the intersection of State Highway 176 and FM 1788 could be put in about three years from now in May 2019.
The Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program uses a ratio of the cost of preventable crashes and the cost of road improvements to determine where their yearly funds will best be used.
Last Saturday's crash between a Dodge Dart and a Truck pulling a horse trailer made the decision more relevant.
