Suspect arrested in connection to Hobbs stabbing

HOBBS, NM (KWES) - A man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing his aunt in Hobbs.

On Thursday just before midnight, Hobbs police were called out to the 1600 block of South Cochran St. for a stabbing.

Officers found that a woman had been stabbed and that her nephew, Isaac Garza, 29, was the suspect. The victim was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to another hospital.

Garza fled the scene before officers had arrived, but was later found riding his bicycle at the intersection of Main Street and Turner Street.

When officers tried to make contact with Garza, he rode away on his bicycle and led police on a short chase before being taken into custody.

Garza was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
