HOWARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Firefighters from Martin and Howard County were busy Friday morning after an 18-wheeler caught on fire.
Howard County Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan said the 18-wheeler was traveling from Big Spring to Lamesa with produced water that had been pumped from an oil well.
Sullivan said a mechanical failure caused the brake system to overheat and the back tires to catch fire.
We're told the flames spread to nearby grass but that was quickly contained.
No injuries were reported.
