Woman accused of assaulting, threatening common-law husband with a knife

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One woman is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following an incident Monday morning in Odessa.

Odessa police were called out to the 3200 block of Chestnut Ave. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a 32-year-old man and his common-law wife, identified as Caitlin Smith, 27.

Police said an investigation revealed that after they got into an argument, Smith began slapping and scratching her common-law husband on the right side of his face.

Authorities added further investigation showed that Smith began throwing things at her common-law husband and later showed a fixed blade kitchen knife.

The victim told police that Smith began to threaten him with the knife.

Smith was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).
