Car chase through Ector and Midland Counties results in one in custody, one on the run

ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A chase that led police through Midland and Ector Counties ended Friday afternoon, resulting in one arrest and one person at large.

The chase started just before 1 pm in Gardendale when an Ector Co. deputy tried to pull over a stolen vehicle.

The driver did not stop and at one point was driving over 90 miles per hour.

The suspect avoided spike strips, drove off the road and ran out into a pasture.

Ector County Sheriff's Office confirms shots were fired at the vehicle's tires and that there were no injuries.

The chase ended in Midland Co. about 2 miles north of Hwy 349 when the vehicle ran through a fence and into the a field.

Two people jumped out and ran from the officers.

The passenger was arrested, but the driver is still on the loose.

A DPS helicopter assisted in the search for the suspects.

At this time the investigation is ongoing and no details, names or charges have been released.
