MARFA, TX (KWES) - The Big Bend Regional Hospital District was told informally Thursday that they must close their doors as soon as possible.
The notice came from the Enforcement Division of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, according to the hospital district.
The district says the state board yielded to pressure from local entities to notify them of their closure.
The district's board of directors decided Thursday that opposing this decision would be in the best interest of the citizens that depend on Marfa Meds.
The board will immediately begin the process of setting up meeting with the Pharmacy Board and is urging users to contact state elected officials to voice their concerns.
Marfa Meds is believed to be the only Class H pharmacy in the state of Texas and aims to serve the very rural area of West Texas.
