MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - A candlelight vigil was held Thursday night for a missing Midland woman found dead earlier this week.
Many gathered at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Midland to remember the mother of two.
Tears and happy memories were shared while remembering Kathy Lujan.
Friends called her the "cookie lady" from her time working at the cookie stand in the mall.
The event organizers said they felt the need to put this together and remember her as a person who was loved by everyone.
They chose to not talk about her tragic death, but instead shared memories.
"We love her, we wanted everyone to come together and remember her," said friend and event organizer, Kim Riley.
She was a giving person, like they were saying she was a loving person," said friend and event organizer Yolanda Parks. "She helped anybody that was in need. Always there no matter what time of day.
Lujan's family including her two boys attended the vigil.
Everyone said they were not surprised to see the amount of response Lujan's death caused because she was loved in the community.
Friends said this should encourage others to seek help if they are in a troubling relationship.
Family members said Lujan's funeral arrangements have been delayed because they are waiting for her autopsy results.
