Fugitive arrested for warrants, damaging patrol car and assaulting Odessa officer

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A traffic stop Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a fugitive who is accused of kicking a window out of a patrol car and then kicking an Odessa police officer several times in the stomach.

Odessa police pulled over a truck in the area of Park Blvd. and North County Road West with an expired registration.

A passenger in the vehicle, Reyes Levario, 47, tried to get out of the vehicle but was immediately arrested.

An investigation revealed that Levario had a probation violation warrant.

Levario then actively resisted a search, according to police.

When OPD were taking Levario to the jail, he managed to take off his seatbelt, kick the back driver side door and ultimately cause the window to come off of its hinges.

Officers then stopped the car and opened the back door when Levario kicked Officer Joshua Gonzalez several times in the stomach.

Levario was arrested and charged with assault on a public servant, resisting search and criminal mischief.
