Traffic stop leads to arrest for fugitive with prohibited weapon, fraudulent identification

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa police arrested a man after a traffic stop revealed he was wanted for multiple offenses and that he was in possession of a prohibited weapon and identification documents that did not belong to him.

Lucas McCurrin, 24, was pulled over Friday afternoon in the area of Highway 385 and Southeast Loop 338 and identified as having 3 outstanding warrants for going off bond.

McCurrin was also found to be in possession of a "sawed off" shotgun, a social security card and driver's license that did not belong to him as well as four fraudulent checks.

Odessa police arrested and charged McCurrin with possession of prohibited weapon, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, unlawful carrying of a weapon (gone off bond), two counts of deadly conduct (gone off bond), criminal mischief, and forgery.

McCurrin could possibly be facing federal charges and the investigation is ongoing.
