ODESSA, TX (KWES) - An Odessa mother is accused of leaving several children inside a warm home.
Odessa police arrived at a home in the 1300 block of Nabors Ln. on Friday evening in an attempt to located a subject with multiple felony warrants.
According to the report, the officers knocked and rang the doorbell and then saw a small child looking through the living room window.
Officers said they also heard another child crying and noticed that the back door of the home was wide open.
After the officers announced themselves and got no response, no adult was found inside the home and that it was extremely hot inside.
The report stated that the air conditioner was turned off and the inside thermostat was showing 95 degrees.
Three children, a two-year-old, five-year-old and eight-year-old were found inside the home.
About an hour later, Evelyn Parra, 32, arrived at the home and an investigation revealed that Parra was the mother of the two-year-old and five-year-old. The eight-year-old was her nephew.
Parra was later arrested and charged with three counts of endangering or abandoning a child.
Child Protective Services was notified and the children were later released to a family member.
