Carlsbad welcomes the Commander in Chief

CARLSBAD, NM (KWES) -

On Friday, the arrival and departure of the president brought excitement to those who waited hoping to catch a glimpse of him at the Carlsbad caverns.

They stood at the entrance to the park getting as Marine One flew over and a motorcade drove by.

People of all ages talked about having the President in their city.

Millie Hauser, a Carlsbad resident said, "Very unusual and it's very exciting.  to be honest, I don't care for President Obama's policies, but I respect the office of the President of the United States. And It's very.. I'm looking forward to seeing his procession."

Locals from the area say there hasn't been this much excitement since George W Bush visited the area in 2008.
