MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland City Council approved a resolution Tuesday, creating a downtown Parking Enforcement Officer.
The position will be formed through an agreement between the City of Midland and the Downtown Midland Management District.
The officer's primary duty will be to ensure parking compliance in downtown Midland.
The DMMD would provide $67,500 for the cost of a vehicle and equipment. There would be an additional $54,050 annually for salary and benefits for the position.
According to City of Midland Public Information Officer Sara Bustilloz, downtown businesses expressed a desire over the past few years to see more parking enforcement in the area.
