WEST ODESSA, TX (KWES) - An 18-year-old was arrested Saturday in West Odessa for evading arrest after speeding, losing control of his car and hitting a stop sign and a fence.
Dustin Rodriguez, 18, was seen by an Ector County Sheriff's deputy going 71 mph in a 35 mph zone in the area of 20th St. and Redondo Ave.
The deputy then turned on his lights and tried to pull over Rodriguez who then accelerated and wove unsafely in and out of traffic.
Authorities say Rodriguez tried to turn right but lost control of his car, struck a stop sign, a pile of dirt and then a fence in the 6600 block of 16th St.
Rodriguez told the deputy that he "blacked out" and was transported to the hospital where he was later cleared.
Rodriguez was then arrested for evading arrest in a motor vehicle and released on a $10,000 surety bond.
