PRESIDIO, TX (KWES) - Presidio City Council voted Thursday night to create their own natural gas utility pipeline system.
At this moment, 5,106 people do not have access to natural gas in the city.
According to Brad Newton, Municipal Development Director for Presidio, two industrial parks on the other side of the river also want to participate.
Newton says propane, the alternative to natural gas for many, is the most expensive gas to use to cook with or to heat a home.
Newton also points out that it is hazardous to have extensive amounts of propane in one's home.
This is the first step in creating a gas system for the city.
