EL PASO, TX (KWES) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 14 rolls of Mexican bologna on Thursday morning at the El Paso area port of entry.
The seizure was made at the Bridge of the Americas international crossing.
The truck driver initially said he had no agriculture products, but during a secondary exam, the driver then declared he had multiple rolls under the rear seat of his vehicle.
CBP seized the contraband meat and destroyed it.
Mexican bologna is prohibited because it is made from pork and it can potentially introduce foreign animal diseases to the U.S. pork industry.
