Fugitive caught in Andrews

ANDREWS, TX (KWES) -

A man is behind bars after leading police on a short pursuit.

Around 8:30 this morning police got a call from a company, one of their workers was tracking a truck, by GPS, that had been stolen. 

A short pursuit then started, about 1/4-1/2 a mile. 

The driver of the allegedly stolen truck ran through a gate, wrecked the vehicle and ran on foot. 

Locals started calling about a suspicious person. 

One man was allegedly robbed during this time. 

DPS assisted in the search for the suspect with their helicopter. 

Law enforcement was able to use shoe prints to track down the suspect. 

The suspect Alfredo Vasquez, 44, was found inside a horse stall with debris covering him around 1:00 p.m. 

Vasquez was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, Evading arrest on foot, criminal mischief, Burglary of habitation, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, Felony theft.

Approximately $30,000 worth of stolen property was found inside the truck. 

Vasquez was driving a stolen truck, pulling a stolen trailer, with an SUV on top. Unclear is SUV was stolen.
