ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A woman was arrested in Odessa after police had to force entry to her running car in order to get to her crying infant.
Odessa police were called out to the parking lot of H-E-B on 42nd Street for a child that was left unattended in a vehicle with the engine running.
Authorities say witnesses told them that they had seen the 1-year-old infant unattended in the car for over 10 minutes prior to them calling 911.
Several minutes after rescuing the child, Latavia Ann Atkins, 21, returned to her car and told police that she was the child's mother and she had run into H-E-B to buy a few items.
Atkins was arrested and charged with endangering a child.
