Odessa woman indicted for stealing property from human corpse

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - It's a local story that drew national attention. Now an Ector County grand jury has indicted the Odessa woman, who's at the center of it all.

Kalynn Homfeld, 41, was indicted on a charge of theft of property from a human corpse.

Authorities said she stole a ring of the finger of a dead woman.

Surveillance video showed Homfeld walking into Sunset Memorial Gardens and yanking a $10 ring off the dead woman's finger.

If Homfeld is found guilty, she could spend up to two years behind bars.
