ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa police have arrested a woman for arson, burglary of a habitation and tampering with evidence.
Back on April, 1 police were called out to the 3600 block of North Tom Green Ave. for a structure fire.
Police spoke to a 27-year-old resident who said that someone forced their way into his residence and then intentionally set it on fire.
The fire killed the residents' two cats and dog.
Authorities say an investigation revealed that the residents' ex-girlfriend, Shawn McKenzie-Polk, 43, had begun to make threats towards him as soon as he ended their relationship.
Police say McKenzie-Polk asked her family to lie for her during the OPD investigation.
A forensic detective said that McKenzie-Polk's cell phone had been "remotely wiped" which impaired its availability as evidence in the investigation.
McKenzie-Polk was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with burglary of a habitation, arson and tampering with evidence.
