Texas Border Patrol Agents seize over $2 million in marijuana

ALPINE, TX (KWES) - Over 1,100 pounds of marijuana is off the streets after a drug bust on Monday in Alpine.

Border Patrol agents of the Big Bend sector made the bust around 5 p.m. at the Highway 118 checkpoint.

According to the report, a vehicle arrived at the checkpoint pulling a trailer loaded with an ATV and a motorcycle.

Border Patrol officials said during an immigration inspection, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics or hidden people.

After further investigation, agents found 1,075 bundles hidden in a false compartment in the trailer.

The street value of the marijuana is over $2 million.

The man driving the vehicle, who is a U.S. citizen, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
