BREWSTER COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A man is dead after falling while hiking at Big Bend National Park.

It happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say Brett Leondike, 20, of LaVernia, Texas, was hiking at the Santa Elena Canyon Trail.

He ended up falling 100 feet and died from his injuries.

Park rangers are working to figure out what led up to him falling.

The trail was closed for about five hours after the fall but has been reopened.
