ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One woman is in custody following an afternoon stabbing in Odessa.
Odessa police were called out to the 3200 block of Noble Ave. just after 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived on the scene, witnesses reported Miranda Fabela, 18, stabbed Cahris Hernandez, 17, in the chest.
Hernandez was taken to the hospital with serious bodily injury.
However, police said that Fabela fled the scene before officers arrived.
According to the report, a Midland police officer spotted Fabela on Highway 191 and Loop 250 after an attempt to locate was issued for Fabela's vehicle.
Fabela is being interviewed by detectives with the Odessa Police Department.
She is currently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).
An investigation into the case is ongoing.
