ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Shannell George shared a two year old son with Jake Gould. Even though they aren't together they communicated constantly about everything. She said Gould would never have done something like this.
"Never did I believe he broke into a house trying to steal. God that's, no, no."
It's still hard for Shannell George to believe the man that was killed after police say was shot after breaking into a home on the 46-hundred block of Valleybrook early Sunday morning was 25 year old Jake Gould.
"I just sat down and my dad hugged me and said I don't know how to say this and that's when he told me," said George.
George said Gould worked for Riley Industrial Services a company based in Farmington, New Mexico with offices Arizona, Lubbock, and Odessa and instead of staying at a hotel the company has homes for their workers to stay in when they get sent out on a job.
"He was drinking and was out of it and just went to the wrong house," said George.
Police explained Raul Munoz was not in the wrong in the shooting and did not arrest him.
Corporal Steve LeSueur of the Odessa Police Department said, "It's important to know that if someone does make entry into your residence you do have the right to defend yourself and use whatever force necessary including deadly force."
For George, she said Gould would always ask what can provide for her and their son. and the hardest part will be trying to move forward.
"When I really think about it and when I think about how we'll never see him again it feels like my heart skips a beat or something," said George.
George tells NewsWest 9 funeral arrangements are being made. Odessa Police say when the investigation is complete they will pass along their information to the DA's office.
