University of Texas regents delay decision on campus guns

The University of Texas Systems Regents met Thursday to review the proposed rules for that will govern the inevitable campus carry law.

The Board of Regents decided to postpone the ruling until at least the next meeting in mid-July.

That includes the University of Texas of the Permian Basin as all 14 U.T. component institutions' rules were up for consideration.

The campus carry law was signed by Governor Abbott last June and goes into effect August 1.

The law allows licensed holders to carry a concealed handgun on public university campuses but gives discretion to the universities to regulate exactly where on campus.
